Commission New Technologies
Chair
Dr. phil. Asimina Lazaridou, PhD | Zürich
The new DVSE Commission "New Technologies" aims to advance the integration of innovative technologies and digital solutions in shoulder and elbow surgery.
The Commission considers the entire patient journey, from prevention and initial medical consultations to conservative and surgical treatment concepts, and through to rehabilitative aftercare.
A central focus lies in identifying existing solutions and exploring the future potential of artificial intelligence (AI). The overarching goal is to strengthen the scientific evidence base for personalized treatment strategies for all patients.
Another key area involves the use of digital applications in the OR, from planning and navigation to robotics, as well as perioperative organization in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Additionally, the development of tools to track treatment pathways will be promoted to enable more precise monitoring and individualized care.
The success of the Commission’s work relies on interdisciplinary collaboration between clinicians, researchers, physiotherapists, but also computer scientists and engineers. This approach is intended to identify, evaluate, and support the implementation of innovative solutions to optimize patient care.
